Any of yall hog hunting? If so, mind sharing tips or techniques? Baiting, trapping, dogs?
Or locations? I spent a week at coosa WMA a few years ago during a monsoon in the spring. Literally stayed wet for 7 days. The only thing we saw was Noah pointing and laughing at us as he floated by. That was the last time I attempted to hunt hogs.

I just recently discovered hogs on the property I hunt deer on so am working on getting a setup for them as well (building my first AR-10 with the aim of putting a thermal scope on it). Also new to this so I find this thread very interesting.

From what I've read it's best done at night and over bait (convenient since we just got a new nighttime season for them that starts today), with the best bait being corn that's been covered in cheap fruit flavored soda and fruit flavored Jell-O powder and left to "ripen" for a week or two buried in small holes the ground. Other animals will be repelled by the smell but apparently hogs love it and will aggressively root at the spot it's buried at to get it. Hogs are also cannibals so while the larger boars aren't fit to eat due to "boar taint" they can also be used as hog bait.

Got several more barrels of sour mash brewing. Hogs seem to really like it. I also put these lights on t-posts. They’re solar power motion sensored, and we placed green translucent tape over the lights. Doesn’t seem to bother the hogs. We getting ready for another group of hunters this weekend. Hopefully we have a great harvest.

I haven’t but looking for some good public land with hogs to bow hunt.
I've seen several hogs on Lauderdale management area. Ran up on 3 big hogs with 12 to 15 little ones while riding the motor bike on Panther creek road. Out on the main road there was a big hog somebody hit with a gold hynda (sp?). I know that because the whole front cap was next to the kill. Your bio says huntsville. Not that far for you.

I want to go on a real hog hunt. I want to try 300blk on them but i've heard of several calibers having success with them even with 22mag with good shot placement (i'm not good enough for that tho) right now if i find them in my garden or eating my animals food they get the Winchester 1300 Defender but never a real hunt. What is the range for most hog hunts?
