Does anyone have an educated guess about what company has the best bluing on their 1911?

I don't think mzny use a true BLUE finish. You will most likely find a cerokote type finish now

Les Baer once upon a time caught a little good-natured (for the most part) flak about their blue being “thin.” I don’t know, as a UTC of theirs I had appeared to have gotten an extra dunk or three in the bluing tank haha - it took a LONG time for it to even begin to develop that sought-after, honest bluing-wear that can often look so darn good on a 1911.

Said UTC shown here, since sold to fund a totally different project.

Yeah that worn blue looks fantastic! I’d almost pay for it out of the box like that… almost.
