22-23 Deer Season

Anyone deer hunting this year? I've put meat in the freezer, but no trophies.

The rut is starting here in Madison County. Hopefully, I get an opportunity this weekend.

My son got a 4 pointer on opening day. That's about it though

Really hoping I can get my truck fixed in time to go back out before the season ends. I've only been able to go once this year, and on my way out of the woods my 4x4 wouldn't engage and I got stuck. I did see a small doe though that I watched until it got too dark to see her.

Maybe I’m being taunted? Plus this morning a bobcat went by

Bibb county, not having much luck at all.

this is being taunted. i go hunt a different spot and this buck pops up in my front yard.

If you ever decide you want to it's not that bad. Just get a big pot and one of those propane cookers people fry turkeys outside in on Thanksgiving. Fill the pot with water and a small bottle of Dawn dish soap, then stick the head in up to the antlers and boil till all the flesh comes off. Once the flesh is off bleach the skull in peroxide but don't let it get on the antlers or they'll get bleached too.

Another way to do it is to bury the head up to the antlers in the dirt then cover the antlers with a plastic tub or bucket and wait about 6 months for nature to do its thing. Only thing is that the skull will take on a bit of the color of the dirt it was in but it shouldn't be too noticeable after bleaching.
