You can kill a deer with just about anything fellows. You just have to be a shooter and place that round properly. I've killed many deer in Georgia with a 5.56/223 target rifle.

You can even kill a whitetail with a rock if you are so inclined.

That being said I hunt with a 300 winchester magnum target (some would say sniper rifle but that is any rifle in the hands of a sniper and that ain't me) rifle. That or a pencil thin Remington model 7 .308

Very Nice!!!
Thank you. neat story behind that buck. I went to my normal spot i had been hunting and it was covered up in trucks at the gate. Of course keep in mind it's public land, so best choice is just move on some where else. LOL. Called my buddy at 4:45 that morning, Hey man my spots covered up with folks hunting, Where should i go. Well he tells me where to go and I say man you are crazy i aint ever seen a deer there. And then this happened. I guess it was just my lucky day LOL

140 and 147 ELD-M, ‘target loads’ kill deer very, very well. They’ve always given good expansion and broadside/quartering exits. It’s not what the box says, but how the bullet is designed. Cup and core is cup and core. If the jacket is thick enough and velocities aren’t too extreme, they expand and hold together. They’ve been better than the ELD-X or interlock on deer at creedmoor velocities, for me.

I don’t have a creedmoor because I wanted a creedmoor. I wanted the particular rifle in 308, but the only one I’ve found was in 6.5….nobody sells their 308s in it, and it’s been discontinued for a minute. The CM works just fine.
