Glock 26 or 27?

9mm and .40 perform very similarly with good defensive ammo. You get one more round in the 26 flush fit magazine than in the 27, plus cheaper ammo and more readily available magazines. Either one is fine, but if you’re planning on shooting it a lot, the G26 makes sense based on ammo prices alone. Plus if you have a Glock 17 or 19, those magazines will work in the 26. If you have a Glock 22 or 23, those magazines will work in the 27.

As an avid g22 shooter, I couldn't sell my g27 fast enough.

short barrels and snappy cartridges don't work for me. more power to you if you're shooting bill drills with a g27 just as quickly as a g26. Not me

One thing to consider is that your light options are VERY limited with both the 26 and 27. The TLR-6 and a Nightstick that’s similar but with even fewer holster options are the only lights you can find that will fit right on the 26. I use a TLR-6. The brightness is not great, but it works in very limited circumstances. If you don’t carry with a mounted light, it’s not a concern. I carry a handheld, but I like having a mounted light when possible, too.

i currently have 2 holsters that fit my 27 with tlr6 perfectly, one is a pocket/iwb holster and the other is a nice paddle holster specifically for this configuration.

I have two that use. One is a Tulster Profile and the other is a Guerrilla Tactical set up with an Enigma. That said, there are fewer holster options out there for the G26/27 with TLR-6 than for a lot of other gun/light combos. You definitely can find them, though!

I would lean towards the G-26. Shoot a Glock 27 before buying one! FWIW, Glock 27 don't have as good resale value as the Glock 26. Good luck!

The 26. The extra recoil from the 40sw round isn;t worth the ballistic difference. In my 28.5 years of policing and 25 years instructing the only Glocks I ever personally saw "break" were the 40's. But........ shoot what you shoot best.
