Umpf! I really hate that my new semi-custom 1911 rubs me the wrong way!

Took my Ronin Commander LW to the CMP yesterday. This is the first 1911 I have owned since by motorcycle crash 10 years ago.
And therein lies the rub. Literally! I was jacked up bad in the crash and my right wrist and hand were shattered. My right wrist and thumb joint is somewhat deformed but I thought having a low thumb safety would help. It does but my hand and wrist rehabbed in a way that where by shooting hand, my right, rubs the frame/thumb safety junction very uncomfortably. First time I picked up a 1911 and thought "That really doesn't feel good in my hand". Arggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I got a "safe queen" now or a "BBQ Gun".

Man, that is a huge bummer. A gun that rubs the wrong way during use kills that gun imo. Did you not have a chance to check the feel before you purchased it?

Definitely a tough situation. Any option to try to shoot left handed? I’m not saying that would be easy by any measure. My son is a lefty and I had a heck of a time helping him learn to shoot left but he does it well now.

Man, very sorry to hear this!

You mention a low thumb safety - are you referring to the standard-issue 1911 thumb safety, or did you go with one of the literal low-mount safeties that are available, like this Gunsite model?

I got the Harrison Custom low mount safety. I'm more mad at myself for not figuring this out before I spent close to $1300 getting it just the way I wanted. The only way to fix what my problem is would to be to grind down the back of the frame/grip safety/thumb safety area and that is just not doable from a safety and practicality stand point. I'll snap a picture and show what I mean.

Here is what the issue LOOKS like. I may try breaking that left edge of the grip safety up with a ceramic stone and see if that helps.
