I went all copper and haven't looked back. I did that when I saw some X-rays of meat shot with an ordinary lead bullet. Lots of super-fine lead particles get dumped into the meat - particularly the shoulder if it goes through the bone. I haven't shot them in a slow-moving bullet like the .44 but all evidence I've seen would indicate that they would do fine in that situation too.
Hornady xtp in 44. My 357 Marlin Lever shoots the XTPs very well and I have seen several shot into gelatin. Expands well. Reports from hunters are very good
