The Thomas Royal Bates mentioned here is my GGG-Grandfather. I'm going to try to get started doing some gunsmithing. I think I'm well-qualified.
The first two images are about Thomas Royal Bates, the gunsmith.
The third and fourth image tells a sad story. His great-grandson, PFC William Charles Patrick Bates (K-3-3, USMC) was the last person killed in WWII. He died during an ambush by Japanese holdouts on Guam on 9 December, 1945.
