I watched a video today from the lawyers of Gun owners of America has released a video today saying the new law is a trap. The lawyer go’s into detail about a meeting he had this morning with ATF officials. The form 1 as most of us already know that has done one before. Is asking the government to build a SBR. Another words you get your approval then you put the sbr together. With the pistol brace law you already have a built SBR. Here’s the trap. You file form 1 take pictures of rifle, a pic of yourself and address, finger prints and you hand all that to ATF. Well the FBI no longer does the background checks for the ATF so the ATF has now implemented that all form 1’s that go past the 88 day background point is automatically denied. The Attorney then asks the ATF what happens when the denial happens the response from ATF agent was we will then enforce the law of illegal SBR possession. And you sent everything they need to convict you of illegal possession of a sbr. Please go watch the video.

Look I initially resisted buying them also as the short barrel length has a dramatic negative impact on velocity for 5.56, 5.45, etc. However, I really got hooked on the pistol caliber CMMG models in particular (45acp) and then I expanded out to others with rifle calibers (Galil, Daniel Defense, etc).

I bought all of these with the understanding, based on numerous ATF letters verifying the legality of braces, that these were not SBRs.

My biggest concern is that this is a registration scheme for millions of purchasers that were done based on ATF written guidelines that now have arbitrarily changed. I now also see there is a risk for a trap on the form 1s.

At the end of the day what should happen is the whole SBR issue should go away and be struck down in full. Likely a long shot and dream but that’s what really should happen in the courts.

I also like the pistol caliber. I have a few and I don’t like how they are now saying they’re going to be illegal. The few I own are folding types so I just plan on taking them off and then go about converting my pistol to sbr. Then when approved I will assemble them with stocks and not the brace.

First I have heard of this issue with imported pistols that have braces stating you only option is to destroy or turn in…..this is a complete cluster of a “rule”
